How to build a reading list you will actually finish
A reading list fails when it becomes homework. The fix is a system that treats reading like a habit, not a challenge. Here is a simple one that works.
Start with three piles
Keep three short lists: now (the next three books you will read), soon (a handful waiting in the wings), and maybe (everything that caught your eye). Only now needs discipline; the other two are allowed to drift.
Prune without guilt
If a book has been on maybe for two months, delete it. If one you started is not working after three chapters, put it down. The goal is a list you trust, not one you fear.
Free and discounted books make this cheaper to experiment with — browse the free library and the expiring soon page to keep all three piles stocked.
