Privacy Policy

OptRead.com ("OptRead", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Subscriber Information

  • Email address submitted via an Offer Creator's landing page.
  • Opt-in status for OptRead's own marketing, including newsletters and promotions.

1.2 Offer Creator Information

  • Account registration details: name, email, and password.
  • Profile settings and Offers you create, including titles, images, and descriptive text.

1.3 Technical and Usage Data

  • IP address, browser type, device, and operating system.
  • Referring URL, pages viewed, and time spent on site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies.

1.4 Security and Audit Logs

  • Server and application logs, including timestamps, error reports, and access records, retained for up to 90 days solely for security monitoring and incident investigation.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Platform operations: To deliver Offers, manage accounts, and provide CSV-export functionality.
  • Communications: To send OptRead's own site-wide newsletters, account notifications, and service updates, only if you have opted in.
  • Analytics and performance: To improve and troubleshoot the platform, including via Google Analytics, Bing Analytics, and other analytics tools.
  • Security and compliance: To detect and prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Automated processing: We may use automated tools, including AI, to sort Offers by relevance, detect spam submissions, generate trend insights, and assist with internal suggestions. Such processing does not make legally binding decisions about you; you may request human review by contacting us.

3. Lawful Bases for Processing

Where EU or UK data subjects are involved, we rely on consent, contract performance, legitimate interests, and legal compliance as applicable.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to remember sessions and preferences, analyze site usage, and support remarketing or advertising when you opt in. You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings; blocking may impact functionality.

5. Email Communications and Consent

  • Subscriber emails: You must explicitly opt in via the landing-page checkbox to receive OptRead communications.
  • Unsubscribe: Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and requests are processed immediately.
  • Offer Creator emails: After CSV export, OptRead is not responsible for how Offer Creators manage consent or unsubscribe requests in their own systems.

6. Sharing of Information

  • With Offer Creators: Subscriber emails go only to the Offer Creator who collected them.
  • Service Providers: We share data with trusted vendors such as hosting, analytics, and email delivery providers under confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.
  • No Sale of Data: We do not sell Subscriber or Offer Creator personal data to unrelated third parties.

7. Data Minimization and Purpose Limitation

  • We collect only the data strictly necessary to operate the platform and deliver requested features.
  • We will not use personal data for purposes beyond those stated here without obtaining further consent.

8. Data Retention

  • Subscriber Emails: Retained up to 12 months after the last Offer Creator login or until account deletion.
  • Offer Content and Account Data: Retained until you delete your content or account, plus up to 30 days in backups or caches for technical purposes.
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated or anonymized metrics may be kept indefinitely for product improvement.
  • Security and Audit Logs: Retained for up to 90 days.

9. Data Security and Breach Notification

  • We implement appropriate organizational and technical measures, including encryption, access controls, and secure hosting, to protect personal data.
  • In the event of a personal-data breach likely to result in risk to your rights, we will notify you and any relevant regulator without undue delay and within 72 hours where required by law.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, update, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing activities, withdraw consent to marketing communications, and opt out of sale if you are a California resident. We do not sell personal data.

11. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you also have the right to know what personal data we collect and why, request deletion, opt out of sale, and receive non-discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.

12. Children's Privacy

  • Our services are not directed to children under 18, or the relevant age of digital consent in your country.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, contact us to have it deleted.

13. International Data Transfers

  • Your data may be processed or stored outside your country of residence, including New Zealand, the United States, or the European Union.
  • Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards to ensure adequate protection.

14. Third-Party Links and Services

  • Our site may contain links to external websites or be embedded in third-party platforms. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
  • We encourage you to review each site's privacy policy before sharing personal data.

15. Policy Change Notifications

When we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will post the updated policy with a new effective date and email active Offer Creators and Subscribers at least 30 days in advance if the change is significant. Continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

16. Independent Parties

Nothing in this Privacy Policy creates any partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and OptRead.
