A Noble Betrayal: A Medieval Scottish Historical Romance (Brotherhood of the Border Book 1)

“I would protect you from your own father, from the king of England himself. If only I could trust you.” Lord Waryn’s family is under suspicion in 13th-century England. King Edward believes they are secretly allied with the rebel William Wallace, and his punishment is a forced marriage to Lady Phillipa. As the daughter of the king’s closest advisor, Phillipa is an embedded spy. Waryn’s plan is simple: isolate his dangerous new bride at a remote estate and protect his family’s secrets. He expects a cold pawn of the crown. Instead, he finds a woman of fierce intellect and quiet vulnerability. Lady Phillipa has been given a nonnegotiable task: report any treasonous activity by her new husband directly to the most powerful men in England. But Waryn is not the traitorous villain she was warned about. He is a deeply protective, emotionally intelligent lord who challenges her to think for herself rather than blindly follow orders. As unexpected passion flares between them and the shadows of rebellion close in, Phillipa is caught in a deadly web of divided loyalties. To save the husband who has claimed her heart, she must risk the wrath of a king. Thirty years after the Border Series ends, a new saga of family, loyalty, and love along the turbulent Anglo-Scottish border begins. Author’s Note: If you love forced marriage tropes, spy heroines, and steamy historical romance set during the Scottish Wars of Independence, Noble Betrayal is your next favorite read.
