There's a photo map above the Wood family fireplace — 50 states, each one filled with a memory. By 2019, 43 were full. Then their world stopped turning. Six years later, Josh and Careese Wood loaded their medically complex son, seven of their other kids, a nurse, her family, and enough equipment to stock a small ICU onto a plane bound for Seattle — and then onto a cruise ship bound for Alaska. Alaskaka is the story of that trip. It's also a story about grief and gratitude, suffering and stubbornness, and what it looks like to fight for your family's life with everything you have — and then book a cruise. It's about a boy who keeps defying every odd stacked against him, a mother who plans like her family's life depends on it (because it does), and a father learning that the God who doesn't always say yes still shows up.
