The Covenant City: A Companion Novel to The Circuit Haven (The Circuit Haven Series)

Eitan Ben Ami has spent his life keeping water moving through Jerusalem. Now the city is being offered a peace that asks for everything. On the night people vanish, Eitan is standing in a flooded intersection, writing a missing woman's name on the back of a valve map. Above the city, a luminous vessel promises that the missing are safe and humanity is being prepared for something greater. Recovery comes quickly. A system called Kairos restores power, medicine, and water, and asks only for a little more access each time. A covenant is signed in Jerusalem. The Temple is restored. The holy places are protected, by terms no one is allowed to amend. At first, every household is registered for its own good. Then every household is counted. Eitan, his wife Yael, their children Tamar and Noam, and his father Avraham, an observant man who knows exactly whom he worships, must decide what they will do as the city's promises turn into conditions. They keep lists of the missing. They argue about Scripture over dinner. They share water with neighbors the system no longer counts. And when the order finally comes to kneel, each of them has to answer for themselves. The Covenant City is a companion novel to The Circuit Haven, following another family through the same years from the city at the center of them. Each novel tells a complete story, and either can be read first. It is character-driven Christian apocalyptic fiction about faith, family, and the work that remains when events are beyond anyone's control: giving water, keeping a name, and making room for someone at the door.
